THE STOLEN JOOLS

Produced in early 1931 as a promotional fund-raiser. Cast included Laurel and Hardy, Edward G. Robinson, Joan Crawford, Buster Keaton, Joe E. Brown, Our Gang, and many other stars in cameo appearances.

     Laurel and Hardy appear early in this all-star short as assistants to detective Eddie Kane. The boys and Kane drive to Norma Shearer's house, whereupon their Model T falls apart. Ollie tells Stan, "I told you not to make that last payment!"


ON THE LOOSE

(Thelma Todd - Zazu Pitts Short)

 Filmed September, 1931. Produced and directed by Hal Roach. Cast: Thelma Todd, ZaSu Pitts, Claud Allister, John Loder, Billy Gilbert, Charlie Hall.

     Stan and Ollie make a brief appearance at the end of this Todd-Pitts short. The girls are tired of their boyfriends who are too cheap to take them anywhere but Coney Island. After a trying day, they answer a knock at their apartment door to reveal Stan and Ollie, who promptly ask them if they'd like to go to Coney Island.

 Cast: Our Gang, Franklin Pangborn.

     Stan and Ollie's brief gag appearance in this Our Gang short finds them as babies, seated in a huge chair, fighting over a huge milk bottle.


ON THE WRONG TREK

(Charley Chase short)

 Filmed April, 1936. Produced by Hal Roach. Directed by Charles Parrott (Charlie Chase).

Cast: Charlie Chase, Rosina Lawrence.

     Charlie Chase and his family are driving to California for their summer vacation. En route, they pass hitchhikers Laurel and Hardy, who have their thumbs pointed in opposite directions.
