HARRY BERNARD

b. January 13, 1878, d. November 4, 1940
Appeared with Laurel and Hardy in 26 films.

Other Notable Films: Dozens of Roach films including A Pair of Tights (1929), Pups is Pups (1930) and The Pip from Pittsburgh (1931).  Also Six of a Kind (1934), Kentucky Kernels (1934), The Milky Way (1936).
 
      Harry Bernard spent most of his career at Hal Roach, appearing in films starring Laurel and Hardy, Charley Chase, Our Gang and others.  Outside of Roach Studios, he often worked with other comedians such as Wheeler and Woolsey and Harold Lloyd.  Usually cast as a cop in the Laurel and Hardy films, Bernard is well remembered as the officer who shows up at James Finlayson's house ("You almost blew my brains out!") in the longer version of A CHUMP AT OXFORD, and as Ollie's boxing promotor pal in Any Old Port. Bernard died in 1940, a year after filming SAPS AT SEA, his final film with the Boys.
