| JB: I know many critics see this as a run-of-the-mill short, but it is probably the Laurel and Hardy silent dearest to my heart. Yes, Hog Wild, Towed in a Hole and Busy Bodies were better as "hammer and nail" shorts, but there are great moments to be found here --- Ollie finding myriad ways of swallowing a mouthful of nails, Stan reducing a window frame to kindling wood in the space of fifteen seconds --- plus we are treated to a cartoon bird near the end that is cheesy enough to join the L&H Animated Menagerie of Flying Elephants and Pesky Mice. |
