Appeared with Laurel and Hardy in 23 films.
Other notable films: The Circus (1927); The Iron Mask (1928); A Night at the Opera (1935); Showboat (1936); Modern Times (1936)
Sandford began his career on the stage before moving to films in 1910. He appeared in numerous shorts for Chaplin and Sennett before signing with Hal Roach in the mid-20's. Frequently cast as a burly cop or waiter, he may be best remembered for his role as the befuddled officer in Big Business.

* Note: Sandford was originally cast and filmed
some scenes as the Sheriff in WAY OUT WEST but he was soon
replaced by Stanley Fields. However, there is a possibility that
he still may appear in the film in a long shot, as the boys get
out of the stagecoach. Since he and Stanley Fields are of the
same general build, it would make sense that long shots featuring
Sandford would be perfectly acceptable..
